Combined Heat and Power Helps London Hospitals Reduce CO2 Emissions
Two of London oldest and most famous hospitals have reduced their energy costs by more than £1.5 million and reduced CO2 emissions by nearly 11,300 tonnes thanks to combined heat and power (CHP) technology.
Both of the hospitals have installed 3MWe reciprocating engine CHP systems to generate cost effective onsite heat and power. The NHS Foundation Trust for the two hospitals made the choice in response to growing energy costs, which reached around £10 million a year by 2004.
